July meeting rescheduled

Hey, happy Fourth! This is just a quick heads-up to let you know that there will be no meeting this week due to Omnicorp Detroit’s Open Hack holiday closure. We’re looking forward to seeing you Thursday, July 18th instead. Have an explosive Independence Day!

Competition Picking

update: date corrected

The topic of our next meeting on thursday the 2nd of august will be competition picking. We’ll focus on speed techniques including raking, sensitivity exercises, and torsion control, as well as running through a few of the more common competition scenarios and games.
As usual, we’ll meet at omnicorpdetroit, 1501 Division in eastern market during open hack night at 8:00pm. Don’t miss it!

Tool Making

The topic of this month’s meeting will be making your own picks. If you have your own stock you want to bring, feel free. Windshield wipers, hacksaw blades, or some other thin, flat piece of your favorite metal will do. We’ve also got plenty to spare so if you don’t have your own, don’t worry!

Remember, we meet this month on thursday the 7th, at 8:00pm at omnicorpdetroit in eastern market. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

April Meeting: Security Pins

Hey everybody, it’s time for another monthly meeting! This month our focus will be on something a bit more advanced: picking security pins.

For those of you who haven’t worked on the spool-pinned progressive locks yet, it’ll be an introduction to how they work. Those who have knocked a couple around should learn faster, more reliable and more effective ways of bypassing them.

As always, the group will meet on the first Thursday of the month (April 5 this time) at OmniCorpDetroit during their Open Hack Night from 8:00 until 10:00pm. This is a free event and everyone is invited to attend, but OCD asks a $5 donation if you can spare it to help keep the space running.

One Year Anniversary

Next month, Detroit Locksport will be celebrating our first birthday! Come out to OCD Thursday, February 2nd to join in as we pick locks, eat thai food, and make last minute plans for the massive upcoming Pick It! class.
